Founded 1660 — an astonishing concentration of Revolutionary graves: Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, John Hancock, and the five victims of the Boston Massacre. James Otis's stone has a skull carved into it. A quirk I loved: the headstones were rearranged for tidiness in the 1800s, so many no longer match who's actually buried beneath. A very Boston kind of chaos. Stop 4 on the Freedom Trail.
