One of the oldest independent libraries in the U.S. — but it feels more like a beautiful museum. Membership-based, though open to the public for a one-time visit. The ornate bronze door panels at the 10½ Beacon Street entrance are part of the original 1849 Italian Renaissance Revival design. I bought a "Meet Me at 10½" tote for my national park passport stamps. Visited from Beacon Hill.
