Stowe

Classic Vermont ski town. I came in summer for one very specific reason — the Trapp Family Lodge, the real home of the Sound of Music family, which has its own entry. The rest of the town was a lovely bonus.
Green Mountain Inn — Built 1833, historical photos throughout. The sauna/spa/pool combo isn't from natural hot springs (there aren't any) — just standard ski-town infrastructure tied to Stowe Mountain Resort.
Cold Hollow Cider Mill — Tremendously good cider, pressed with a traditional 1920s rack-and-cloth press. I want it in LA.
